Odds: Jets -2.5; over/under 43.5

Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will be behind center at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Last week he was 16 of 21 for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

“I feel like I live my whole life to play football and it’s awesome to just be able to do that for a living,” Darnold said, according to the AP. “I’m embracing it every single day.”

“All division games have that extra buzz around them, but I feel like when we play the Jets, it’s always turned up just a little bit more,” Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill said, according to the AP. “I don’t know what makes it that way or why it’s that way. Maybe it’s just the competitiveness of the games, but there always is an energy that goes with playing against the Jets.”

Both the Dolphins and the Jets are 1-0 and full of hope to start 2018 – the Dolphins beat the Titans last week 27-20 and the Jets beat the Lions 48-17. And when it comes to power rankings, it’s about a dead heat – the Dolphins are No. 18 in the AP’s Pro32 ranking while the Jets are No. 17.

Also, think about this: The Dolphins haven’t been 2-0 since 2013 and the Jets haven’t been 2-0 since 2015 One of these teams will emerge as the victor and an early playoff contender. The Cleveland Browns didn’t lose their opener and are off to their best start since 2004.

What is perhaps more telling is they didn’t win their opener, either.

The Browns failed to win at home vs. the rival Pittsburgh Steelers despite forcing six turnovers, and they will be looking to build on the result when they take on the Saints in New Orleans on Sunday.

Part of the reasons for the missed opportunity was failures of the offense, particularly the passing game.

One game into the 2018 season, heat is already starting to build on Browns starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor has completed 62 percent of his passes in his career, but he was only 15 of 40 for 197 yards in the opener played on a rainy, miserable day in Cleveland. The resulting 21-21 tie with the Steelers left fans clamoring for rookie Baker Mayfield, the first overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Weather will not be a factor Sunday when the Browns visit the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. Taylor did not use weather as an excuse for the way he performed in his first game with the Browns after being acquired in March for a third-round draft choice in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, but the eighth-year veteran definitely expects more from himself on Sunday.

“When you look back at the film (in the opener), which we did, there were things that we beat ourselves on,” Taylor said Wednesday. “I think that between the first and second game — of course, for a new group that’s playing together — you definitely have room to make a tremendous improvement. That’s what we have to do this week. Continue to keep focusing on the details, learn from what we did not do so well last week and harp on those details throughout the week so that we can go out and execute at a high level this weekend.”

Odds: Packers -1; over/under 46

Both the Packers and the Vikings are 1-0 to start the season, but Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an injury in the season opener. He’s scheduled to start and play, but the question remains of how he can perform. Rodgers was held out of practice this week, getting his injured knee healed. Minnesota is preparing as if Rodgers will be 100 percent on Sunday.

“I don’t know if he’s mobile. I don’t know if he can run. We don’t know anything,” Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen said, according to the AP. “We’re just going to go in with a game plan, that he’s running and we’re going to go out there and execute our assignment.”

These teams both compete in the NFC North so it’s an always-important matchup. Rodgers believes he can have enough mobility to compete.

“I think as you saw the other night, just because I wasn’t escaping the pocket, I was still moving in the pocket — subtle movements on the throw to (receiver Davante Adams) up in the pocket, and subtle movements on the throw to (Randall Cobb) on the last touchdown of the game,” Rodgers said.

For the Vikings, the big key against the Packers will be defense – a unit they worked hard to improve during the off-season.

From the AP: “The Vikings made their biggest splash of the offseason by signing  quarterback Kirk Cousins  in free agency, but the following day they made another significant addition with Sheldon Richardson. The sixth-year defensive tackle, after a quiet preseason, immediately made his presence felt in his first real game for Minnesota with six tackles, a half-sack and a team-high three hits on San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“During a sack by defensive end Danielle Hunter, Richardson pushed Garoppolo off his spot and steered him toward his teammate.”

Injury updates

The Falcons placed starting safety Keanu Neal and starting linebacker on injured reserve this week.

The Panthers will be without two starters on offense against the Falcons, as they announced tight end Greg Olsen re-fractured his right foot against the Cowboys and starting right tackle Daryl Williams suffered a knee injury that will require surgery.

Panthers vs Falcons

NFL@ Panthers vs Falcons : The Falcons return home to take on Carolina this week in desperate need of a win. The NFC South showdown will certainly be a tense affair.

Matt Ryan and company fell short at Philadelphia to open the 2018 season and they know an 0-2 start could doom their playoff hopes before they can get off the ground. Their game against the Panthers isn’t a must-win, but it’s awfully close.

It may only be Week 2, but this game means an awful lot to both teams. The Falcons desperately want to avoid going 0-2. The Panthers know that banking road wins against NFC South foes should put them in great position to win playoff tie breakers late in the year. Expect both coaches to go all out to grab the victory.

The big question for Atlanta is which version of Matt Ryan they’re going to see. There’s no denying the fact that Ryan didn’t look right against the Eagles. He wasn’t able to drive the ball down the field with any authority. That was a big reason why the Falcons struggled to move the ball consistently.

The Panthers didn’t put on an offensive show in their 16-8 win at home against the Cowboys, but there were encouraging signs from Cam Newton and company. They’ll arrive in Atlanta hoping to put the Falcons in a serious hole in the NFC South standings. A road win for Carolina could put them in the early driver’s seat in their quest to win a division title.
Oddsmakers aren’t punishing the Panthers too much despite their litany of injuries, installing them as 5 ½-point underdogs in this NFC South showdown. They’re just 2-4 ATS in their past six games as road ‘dogs of between 4-7 points; prior to the slump, they had covered six straight in that scenario. Atlanta is on a five-game winning streak against divisional opponents and has successfully covered in four of those games, winning three of them by double digits.

From a totals perspective, these teams live for the under. They’ve gone 2-8 O/U in their previous 10 regular-season meetings, finishing with fewer than 40 combined points six times over that stretch. Atlanta has been a sensational under option on its own, going 3-13 in its previous 16 games and surpassing the total just once in its past 11 against teams with winning records. The Panthers have gone below the number in four of their past five September games.

Think the Panthers are having it rough already? They’ll also have to deal with the distraction of seeing their home state battered by Hurricane Florence, which is expected to do major damage to the Carolina coast over the weekend. On the field, their decimated offensive line will make things difficult for a Panthers run game that looked stout in its season-opening 16-8 win over Dallas, producing 147 yards and a touchdown on 32 rush attempts.

A healthy Falcons defence would give Cam Newton and the Panthers fits – but with Jones and Neal both lost for the season, Atlanta will have to get creative. There are concerns on offence, as well, with starting running back Devonta Freeman dealing with Week 1 soreness that held him out of practice earlier this week. The Falcons come into this one having won each of their previous three home games vs. Carolina, averaging a robust 30 points in those victories.

Vikings vs Packers

Vikings vs Packers: 2018 Week 2 NFL, You can hit Vikings with a hurricane, but you can’t keep the football down. That’s what Vikings fans are hoping, anyway. Despite the historic storm, the team is in action Sunday: It’s the Vikings vs Packers in Lambeau Field.

Vikings vs Packers Odds and Preview

Well, anyone who watched the Sunday night game in Week 1 was treated to a story that might not get outdone for the rest of the 2018 season. Aaron Rodgers came out of the locker room to perform a superhero act to bring the Green Bay Packers all the way back in their game against the Chicago Bears. Now, with his knee hurting, can he do something heroic again as they face the Minnesota Vikings? This game will kick off at 1 PM ET on Sunday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and remember that if you are a BetAnySports customer, you can get great odds with reduced juice, and real-time wagering through Live Betting Ultra.

Under 46.5 points -110

Packers vs Vikings Odds and Betting Preview

The Packers looked asleep for the first 2 1/2 quarters of Sunday’s game, falling behind 20-0 to the Bears. What’s more, Rodgers had gone into the locker room with a knee injury during the first half, and his backup, DeShone Kizer, who was last seen leading the Cleveland Browns to an 0-16 record, had thrown an ill-advised pass into the hands of Khalil Mack, who returned it 27 yards for a touchdown in the final minute before halftime.

No one really expected Rodgers to return, but he indeed did, and threw three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, handing the befuddled Bears a 24-23 defeat.

It was a big weekend for the Vikings as well, as free-agent Kirk Cousins, who signed an $84 million contract, made his debut with the team. His statistics were not mind-boggling, but the Minnesota defense made up for it, intercepting Jimmy Garoppolo three times on the way to a 24-16 victory. The Vikings, the defending NFC North champions, swept both games against the Packers last season, and outscoring them by a 39-10 margin.

Cousins went 20 of 36 for 244 yards, and he may have found his favorite receiver, as he connected with Adam Thielen for 102 yards through the air. Anyone who was looking for an explosive return from Dalvin Cook was a little disappointed, as he had only 40 yards on 16 carries. Latavius Murray is their second guy in the backfield (42 yards). No, this was not an explosive attack, and you must remember that Minnesota had to replace two injured offensive lineman – center Pat Elflein and guard Nick Easton.

But they did deal Jimmy G his first loss as an NFL starting quarterback, limiting him to 15 completions in 33 attempts. The Vikings took advantage of the fact that San Francisco does not have a very potent running game, and you might say the same thing for the Packers, who really haven’t found the kind of feature back who can make a difference. And if you have followed Minnesota in the off-season, you know that they had added defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson and cornerback Mike Hughes, a first-round draft pick (who had a pick-six vs. San Francisco), to a defense that held opposing passers to just 5.5 yards an attempt and ranked #1 overall in the NFL. In other words, Cousins is not have to do a whole lot to help this team win games.

You have to have some questions about the Green Bay defense, which did allow Chicago to move rather seamlessly in the first half last week, and before the Bears suffered their psychological meltdown. Minnesota has more weapons than the they do, and we see them as the more complete team at the moment, capable of winning this game straight-up, while putting pressure on Rodgers, will still have the after-effects of that knee injury.

Last week’s loss to the Ravens was the second-worst in franchise history for Buffalo. The team experienced quarterback woes and more, and starting quarterback Nathan Peterman was pulled in favor of Josh Allen, which didn’t necessarily improve anything.

“Maybe Nate didn’t play well with the turnovers, but we helped out with that,” McCoy said, referring to a season-opening  47-3 loss at Baltimore  when Peterman threw two interceptions and was pulled.

“We gave up pressures, we had penalties, second-and-longs, third-and-longs. We didn’t make plays for him,” said McCoy, according to the AP. “It’s a team thing. Collectively, we didn’t play well.”

Panthers vs Falcons

Panthers vs Falcons : You can hit Carolina with a hurricane, but you can’t keep the football down. That’s what Panthers fans are hoping, anyway. Despite the historic storm, the team is in action Sunday: It’s the Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers in Atlanta.

The Falcons and Panthers both have high hopes this season. Consider their power rankings in the AP Pro32 ranking: Panthers No. 8, Falcons No. 10. Atlanta beat Carolina in their last meeting last season. Atlanta struggled in their 2018 season week 1 game, however, losing to the Eagles 18-12 in a mistake-prone game. The Panthers started strong, beating the Cowboys 16-8.

Atlanta is home for NFL week 2, however, and that’s why oddsmakers have them slated almost a touchdown favorite.

It’s an early-season battle for the NFC South, and Atlanta understands the importance for the playoffs. The Falcons made the 2017 playoffs with a 10-6 record despite finishing third in the division behind New Orleans and Carolina.

Atlanta’s 2018 schedule is comprised of four NFC East and four AFC North opponents, games against the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals as well as their six games against their three division rivals.

The Falcons (0-1) will square off against the first NFC South rival Sunday when the host the Carolina Panthers (1-0) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. A 1 p.m. ET kickoff is scheduled.

Opponents series order:

Week 1 at Philadelphia Eagles
Week 4 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Week 5 at Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 7 vs. New York Giants
Week 9 at Washington Redskins
Week 10 at Cleveland Browns
Weeks 2 and 16 – Carolina Panthers
Week 11 vs. Dallas Cowboys
Week 13 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Week 14 at Green Bay Packers
Week 15 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Weeks 3 and 12 – New Orleans Saints
Weeks 6 and 17 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Badger fans have been rowdy through a 2-0 start to their season, but Saturday’s game against a BYU team that’s trending upward after last year’s regrettable 4-9 season. BYU vs. Wisconsin news:

Wisconsin’s passing game just got a bit more dangerous with Danny Davis’s return from suspension.
A lack of big plays left the BYU offense grasping at straws last week.
Jonathan isn’t the only Taylor at Wisconsin who can burn your defense with big gains.
Defensive back Dayan Ghonwaloku is a big time player who can make things extremely difficult for UW quarterback Alex Hornibrook Saturday.

Is Jonathan Taylor really this good?

Taylor rewrote NCAA record books as a freshman in 2017, rushing for 1,977 yards and propelling the Badgers to their first-ever 13 win season in the process. He’s been similarly explosive this fall. Taylor came alive after an early Week 2 fumble to gash New Mexico for 253 yards and three touchdowns.
